My Everyday Makeup Routine

I shared my favorite drugstore products in this post, and I’ve shared a quick 5-minute makeup tutorial on stories to achieve that “no makeup makeup” look (saved to my highlights here). But today I’m going to walk you all through my everyday makeup routine and share all of my go-to products.

Now, I am VERY basic when it comes to makeup. Some of these products I’ve had in my routine for years, and some are fairly new. You will notice I do not invest in a ton of high-end products, so if I’m using a more expensive product it’s because I haven’t been able to find a drugstore option that compares.

Below, I’ve listed all product info, including the shades I use, in the order I apply them. Check out my makeup highlight HERE to see how I apply everything (note that I am not a makeup professional…this is just what works for me).

  1. Skincare — I always start with my morning skincare routine: Tula face wash, witch hazel toner, eye cream, followed by a moisturizer. I’m currently introduced this one back into my skincare arsenal, but I also love the Tula moisturizer. These headbands are the best for keeping hair out of your face while applying skincare or makeup.
  1. e.l.f. Blemish Control Face Primer — I use about two pumps and apply to my face with my fingers.
  1. Covergirl Clean Liquid Foundation — This is a water-based formula that spreads so easy and does a great job covering blemishes without feeling caky or heavy. This brush is my absolute favorite foundation brush. SHADE: Classic Ivory (110)
  1. Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer — This stuff is as amazing as everyone says it is. I dab it into my under-eyes and any blemishes using a damp beauty sponge. These are my favorite and come in a set of 5 for $8. SHADE: Fair-light Neutral (16N)
  1. Airspun Loose Face Powder — I use this to set my under-eye concealer by dabbing it over the concealer with the same damp beauty sponge. Then, I use a powder brush to lightly set my whole face. The one I use is old, but this one is similar.
  1. Milani Baked Bronzer — This is one of my all-time favorite drugstore finds. This whole brand is great. I apply it with this powder brush in a three motion (cheeks, along the jaw and neck, and my forehead). SHADE: Glow
  1. Milani Baked Blush — I told you I loved this brand. With the same brush as above, I lightly tap this blush into the apple of my cheeks. SHADE: Luminoso
  1. Wet n’ Wild Megalast Eyeliner — Anyone else remember using this brand in middle school? Yea, I stuck with it. I’ve used several other eyeliners since, but I keep coming back to this one. It glides on easily without being too thick. COLOR: Blackest Black
  1. Essence Volume Booster Lash Primer — In recent years, I’ve discovered how essential a lash primer is to a makeup routine. But, like all other makeup products, I don’t like to shell out a ton. Luckily, I found this super affordable option and loved it. NOTE: If you apply this when your significant other is around, he will be totally creeped out and wonder why your eyelashes are white. 🙂
  1. Essence Super Curl Volume Mascara — Another affordable favorite. This mascara does such a good job of boosting volume, and the brush is excellent for separating the lashes. No clumps here. When I use this, I always apply this as the base layer in my “mascara cocktail.”
  1. Clinique High Impact Mascara — This is a new addition to my routine, but I love how light the formula is. It adds just the right amount of oomph to lashes, so I tend to apply this on top. If I’m doing bare-minimum makeup, I will just apply this.
  1. Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray — I always finish my makeup with setting spray. This is another one of the few products I spend a little more on, as it is the only setting spray I’ve found that actually works to keep things put all day.
  1. Lip Gloss — This is a must for me. The one I’ve been using lately is from Bath and Body Works and not available online, but I also love this lip balm. However, this gloss is my favorite — I always go back to it because of the pretty shine, but it also hydrates and makes your breath smell good.

And, that’s it! When I’m going to work or out on the weekends, this is my typical process. If I want to amplify it a bit for an evening out , I’ll use a more full-coverage foundation, add a bit of bronzer as eyeshadow, and maybe a highlighter. It’s nothing fancy — like I said, I keep it very simple. I can get most everything at a drugstore and the rest at Ulta.
